This project involved a complete redesign of a PCB to fit into an existing enclosure. A couple of interesting changes made this endeavor quite challenging:

  • To reduce cost, a 900 MHz RF module was merged into the base PCB design. This required careful manipulation of gerber data and close collaboration with the manufacturer to maintain FCC compliance.

  • Cellular connectivity was added, requiring the integration of a board mount antenna without interference with the existing plastic housing.

  • The USB connector was upgraded to USB-C requiring schematic level changes and slight modifications to the plastic tooling for a proper fit.
